This opportunity is for a Licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide valuable support within a K-12 school environment serving students with moderate to severe disabilities. The role involves delivering therapy services to children and young adults aged 3 to 22, across multiple schools within a parish setting. The caseload includes approximately 71 students, with many receiving indirect services, offering a dynamic and impactful professional experience.
Location:
- Prairieville, LA area (serving schools within the parish)
Duration and Hours:
- Contract position for the current school year, from mid-December through late May
- 37.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services aligned with individualized education plans (IEPs) to students with diverse needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including educators, therapists, and administrators
- Support both direct and indirect therapy interventions across six schools (five elementary and one high school)
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports in compliance with school district policies
- Adapt therapeutic techniques to meet the individual needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana COTA license is required
- Experience working with pediatric populations in educational settings, particularly K-12
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and coordinate services across multiple locations
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with team members, students, and families
